890Dans tous les pronostics bon chic bon genre sur les élections présidentielles US de 2012, on ne voit jamais Ron Paul dans la liste des possibles candidats républicains. En général, on n’en parle pas, parfois on le fait pour avancer un argument tel que : “Il n’a aucune chance d’être désigné par le parti républicain”. (Ron Paul lui-même a observé récemment, en plaisantant à peine, qu’il serait plus difficile pour lui de gagner le nomination du parti républicain que les élections présidentielles contre Obama.)
…Mais les chiffres ont la vie dure. Pour la deuxième fois en deux mois, Ron Paul arrive en tête dans un sondage fait au sein des électeurs républicains, par une organisation républicaine. (La première fois, c’était à la mi-février, dans le cadre de la Conférence des conservateurs, la CPAC.)

»Nearly 18 percent of Republicans voted for Rep. Paul in the straw poll conducted at a GOP Convention in Sacramento on Saturday. He was followed by former governor Mitt Romney, who received 10.9 percent of the vote and 2010 president candidate Sarah Palin, who received 7.9 percent of the vote. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich came in fourth place, with 6.9 percent of the vote.
