452Il est remarquable d’observer combien la vague Tea Party du 14 septembre est loin de provoquer une unanimité défensive et hostile dans l’establishment. A l’inverse de réactions conformes type Tomasky, il y a par exemple celle d'Arianna Huffington. Riche héritière et propriétaire du site clef du progressisme US Huffington.post, très influente politiquement, Huffington a toujours été considérée comme faisant partie de l’establishment. Elle se radicalise actuellement de plus en plus, accusant les deux partis de l’establishment d’avoir pulvérisé la classe moyenne US avec leur politique financière et économique.
Huffington.post rapporte, le 18 septembre 2010, son intervention au Tonight Show de Jay Leno,
«Arianna appeared on “The Tonight Show” Friday night to discuss the rise of the tea party during the current election cycle, which she attributed largely to the growing anger of struggling Americans who don't see politicians addressing their problems.
»That fury is mostly directed toward Democrats at the moment because they hold the reins of power, Arianna said, but it's not exclusive to one party. “The anger is because the Democrats and the Republicans have for 30 years now screwed the middle class,” she told “Tonight Show” host Jay Leno.»
Dans son intervention au Tonight Show, Huffington prend nettement partie pour Christine O’Donnell, extrémiste de Tea Party désignée comme candidate républicaine au Sénat pour le Delaware et devenue depuis une vedette nationale. Elle semble à peu près d’accord avec elle (O'Donnell) sur tout ce qu’elle dit, – sauf peut-être, l’accent que met O'Donnell met sur la dénonciation de la masturbation, qu’elle (Arianna) ne voit pas comme une priorité fondamentale de la crise.
