516Il était donc un navire (petit ou pas, nul ne sait), le MS Thor Liberty, enregistré à l’Île de Man, en escale à Kotka, en Finlande… Visite de routine. On y trouve un nombre considérable de caisses de taille non moins considérable, étiquetées sous la mention pyrotechnique de “matériels de feux d’artifice”. A l’intérieur de ces caisses, on trouve 69 batteries de missiles Raytheon Patriot, de la dernière version secrète, et même ultra-secrète, dite PAC-3. Le chargement (le “feu d'artifice” de Patriot PAC-3) vient semble-t-il d’Israël et la direction du Thor Liberty était, semble-t-il, Chang-Hai, en Chine.
Le propriétaire du bateau est Thorco Shiping. Son représentant en Finlande, Thomas Mikkelsen, dit qu’il n’était pas au courant que le navire transportait une telle cargaison. (Pour lui, il s’agissait donc de feux d’artifice, dont la Chine, comme on sait, est cruellement privée et a un urgent besoin ?). Le capitaine du Thor Liberty et son second sont en état d’arrestation. Ils sont Ukrainiens et ne comprennent rien aux mystères du monde. La Chine n’est au courant de rien. Israël, consulté, ne répond pas, sans doute parce qu'il n'en sait rien. Le Pentagone, également consulté par ceux qui disent que, non, après tout, ces Patriot étaient destinés à la Corée du Sud, pas à la Chine, répond qu’il n’envoie pas des Patriot dans des caisses avec étiquettes “feux d’artifice”, mais plutôt par ses formidables Boeing C-17. On enquête donc du côté du Père Noël, tandis que les Patriot s’entassent sur les quais du port de Kotka, sans doute pour préparer un beau feu d’artifice.
